The K-Pop boy group Super Junior is at it again to cause uproar in Manila with their 3rd Asia Tour at the Araneta Coliseum on February 26th.
Super Junior is currently tagged as the largest boy group in Korea and as one of the largest in the world. The group consists of LeeTeuk, HeeChul, YeSung, KangIn, ShinDong, SungMin, EunHyuk, DongHae, SiWon, RyeoWook, KiBum, HanKyung and Kyuhyun, but three, namely KiBum, HanKyung and KangIn, are inactive due to various reasons. They debuted in 2005 under SM Entertainment and have garnered interest locally and as well as internationally since.

Super Junior is not only known for their massive member count but as well as their talents and wits. With their debut album, they have reached 3rd in the Korean charts and that is amazing feat for a rookie group. Their success and popularity skyrocketed with their succeeding albums, all of which have been released in various Asian countries and have reached number one in various international charts as well. Aside from that, Super Junior is also the first and only K-Pop artist with six albums that reached number one in the Philippines – “Sorry Sorry” in September 2009, “Super Girl” in November 2009, “Super Show 2 Live Album” in February 2010, “Don’t Don” in May 2010, “Bonamana” Version A&B in July 2010 and “Bonamana” Version C in August 2010.

Super Junior’s 4th album “Bonamana” is the best-selling Korean album in 2010 with over 250,000 copies sold in Korea alone setting a new record and pushing the standards of Korean music way up. The album has also been greatly successful in other countries as well, such as Japan, reaching number 5 in the Oricon chart; Taiwan, topping the charts for 34 straight weeks; China and Thailand, ranking number 1; and the Philippines, hitting the 1 million peso mark less than a few hours after its official album launch. The accomplishments above only signal a promising future for the group.

Also, as not to waste the individual talents of the members, they have branched out to participate in the different aspects of the entertainment industry, which include acting, hosting and disc jockeying. The group has also been divided into sub-groups to further unleash and make known the individual recognition of each member in their respective areas of specialty.
In lieu with their success, they decided to hold their first ever concert tour called Super Show in the year 2008-2009. During their first show in Korea, the tickets issued were sold out in 10 minutes triggering them hold to an encore concert. The encore concert received an even greater result as because the tickets flew to the hands of the fans in a span of 5 minutes when the ticket selling started. The same scenario happened in their 2nd Asia Tour but this time their tour stops had expanded to a total of 15 shows in 7 different countries including the Philippines.

The Super Show 2 held last year was a definite success in all the countries due to the shocking and unexpected response from the international fans. As evident in the scenarios at the airports in different countries wherein hundreds of fans caught security off-guard and caused chaos just to catch a glimpse of their idols. The said concert tour also exceeded everyone’s prospects with its sprawling stage design, spectacular sound system and interactive performances with special guests.

Super Junior kicked off their 3rd Asia Tour at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. A lot of famous personalities in the entertainment industry were reported to have watched the concert to show their support for the group. In this year’s Super Show 3, Super Junior is expected to be performing 35 songs in approximately three hours. Performances will include selected hit songs from their albums, special stage solos, breathtaking mid-air stunts and hilarious parodies of various artists.

This is one of the most awaited K-Pop concerts of the year around Asia and it is definitely something to anticipate for.
Super Show 3 is produced by PULP Live Productions. MYX is the official Music Channel.
Universal Records is proud to be the Philippine home to this Superstar Korean boy band.
Super Show 2 is presented by SMART and brought to you by BPI, Hyundai, Sanuk and Samsung.

SS3 Manila, Philippines 26th February ~! ALL LINKS HERE!
  • After a successful concert in Manila in April last year, K-Pop idol group Super Junior made a big comeback to the country for the continuation of their third Asia tour, Super Show 3, held at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, February 26.
  • Super Junior’s latest concert has eclipsed the success of their previous Manila concert, garnering more support and bigger attendance, as evident in sold-out premium seats, fully-packed Big Dome and more fan-support projects. Super Junior, dubbed as the largest group in Korea and one of the largest in the world for having 13 members, kicked off their 3rd Asia Tour at the Olympics Gymnastics Arena in Seoul last August and has then toured nine cities, including Manila.
  • Super Junior’s immense popularity in the Philippines made it the first and only K-pop group to have six number one albums in the Philippines, namely “Sorry Sorry,” “Super Girl,” “Super Show 2 Live Album,” “Don’t Don,” and “Bonamana Versions A, B and C.”
  • Ten members from Super Junior, namely Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun, exceeded everyone’s expectations and entertained their fans with their chart-topping hits such as “Bonamana,” “No Other,” “Sorry Sorry” and “Don’t Don”; showing the group’s excellent vocal prowess, powerful dance choreography and great interactive performances. Fans were up for a special treat when Super Junior M’s Henry and rock band Trax, also from Super Junior’s agency SM Entertainment, made special appearances much to the delight of Filipino and overseas Super Junior fans.
  • “Super Show 3” producer Pulp Live World Productions, the same company that brought Super Junior to Manila last year, complemented the idol group’s performances with the V-DOSC sound system, which was used for the first time in the Philippines, and a bigger, sprawling stage design that allows group members to get closer and be more interactive to their fans. True indeed, the boys were often seen shaking hands and playing around with their fans, receiving gifts and taking photos with them. Big platforms, laser lights, fireworks, rising and rotating platforms, large monitors and air suspenders make up the extravagant stage. Super Junior sung a total of over thirty songs which included their group performances, special solo stages and tributes.
  • Any Super Junior fan knows that aside from their singing abilities, Super Junior is also popular for their hosting and showmanship skills, as they hosted the concert themselves and did comical parodies. Girls went crazy when Super Junior’s resident joker and MC, Heechul, performed Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” dressed in a tight-fitting mini-black dress and blonde wig. Donghae, Shindong and Eunhyuk had the fans laughing with their performance of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” Another highlight of the concert was their unique performance of “No Other” with Leeteuk and Sungmin being suspended on air, throwing confetti to their fans and the rest of the members were on a round, rotating platform. Of course, Super Junior performed their smash hit “Sorry, Sorry,” the song which made them popular in the Philippines.
  • What made the Super Show 3 concert stand out is the effort and unity of fans in supporting Super Junior by conducting various projects to surprise the group during the show. Before the concert, various fan clubs like SJUPH and SUJU MAD exerted extra effort by preparing Filipino and Korean food for Super Junior and crew and customized banners for the concert. Super Junior was well-received by their fans as evident in various fan projects, deafening cheers and fan chants. “Super Junior has been to a lot of different countries, different cities, but Philippines has been the loudest,” Super Junior M’s Henry said.
  • Super Junior fans, also called as ELFs or everlasting friends, lighted the Big Dome with sapphire blue, the group’s official color, waving their glow sticks as they cheered on their idols. Super Junior was overwhelmed and touched by the fans’ response with their loud cheers and warm welcome as they kept on saying how much they appreciate and love their Filipino fans.
  • The three-hour long concert just passed like a breeze as fans demanded for an encore when Super Junior already said their goodbye. But, Super Junior definitely left their fans happy when group leader, Leeteuk, left a message saying that they’ll give better performances and songs on their fifth album. After “Super Show 3,” Filipino fans this early are now requesting the concert organizers Vernon Go and Happee Sy for another Super Junior concert next year. Now, that is super.

Nam Heeseok, "You'll be like me" prediction about Super Junior's Yesung

external image e52666f15e26496988a6440.jpg

Gag man Nam Heeseok has made a prediction about Yesung’s future, attracting attention.

On the March 16th episode of MBC Every1’s “Super Junior’s Foresight”, Choi Yangrak and Nam Heeseok appeared as guests, and taught the 3 MCs of Super Junior the ways to make up fashionable words.

In particular, Super Junior’s Yesung, whom had received special training, still appeared to be nervous even after his seniors have taught him the ways to come up with fashionable words. Hence Nam Heeseok asked him to straighten up and not be shy, and confessed that he used to be embarrassed in the past as well.

In addition, he also mentioned that while in middle school, he used to have similar thoughts to Yesung, and predicted that with increasing age, Yesung would gradually be like him (Nam Heeseok).

On the other hand, Nam Heeseok could not recall any funny stories about making up trendy words, but the story behind one of the words that he had randomly came up with had an explosive reaction to it. It will be revealed on the 16th of March, Wednesday at 11PM, on MBC Every1’s “Super Junior’s Foresight”.

Eunhyuk announces his temporary leave from ‘Strong Heart’

external image 20110330_eunhyuk.jpg
On the March 29th broadcast of SBS’s “Strong Heart“, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk gave fans the sad news that he would be temporarily leaving the show.
During the broadcast, Eunhyuk stated, “I have to go to China and Taiwan to greet fans because of Super Junior-M’s promotions.”
Eunhyuk is well-known for bringing laughter through the ‘Teuk Acadamy’ segment, which he shares with fellow Super Junior members Lee Teuk and Shindong.
Eunhyuk added, “Although it’s short-term, I will successfully complete my overseas activities and return.” The MCs replied sadly, “Eunhyuk-sshi, you can’t be gone…” Meanwhile, the ’Strong Heart’ crew members presented Eunhyuk with a golden xylophone as a special gift, causing everyone on set to laugh.
Although he delivered some sad news, Eunhyuk was quick to enliven the atmosphere by sharing stories about how the Super Junior members were ranked, depending on the country. Cute faces like Sungmin and Lee Teuk’s are popular in Japan, while handsome looks like Siwon and Heechul’s are popular in China. In places like Thailand and Malaysia, members with friendly charms like himself connect well with the audience.
Are you sad to see Eunhyuk go? And do you agree with his analysis?

Super Junior Donghae, boasted sense of variety through one-day MC-ing stint... praised by Kim Taewoo!

external image 66511bbc1f40f26fab2f867.jpg

SuJu’s member Donghae replaced Yesung and became an MC for a day on MBC Every1’s “Super Junior’s Foresight”.

Originally, Foresight’s MCs are made up of Leeteuk, Yesung and Shindong. However, one of the MCs Yesung began to feel unwell on the day before the filming, and on the day itself, his condition did not seem to be getting any better, and hence an SOS was requested from his group member Donghae (to take his place on the show).

This is the first time that Donghae, who ran over to fill the vacancy left by Yesung, became an MC, but he showed perfect cooperation with the other members. Kim Taewoo, whom appeared as a guest on the show, praised Donghae saying that he did a better job than was expected, and another guest, KCM, said that Donghae, who made a mistake and pronounced his name wrongly, did not do as well as he had expected, intentionally making things difficult for him, causing the recording studio to be drowned in a sea of laughter.

On the other hand, on that day, through speaking about the songs that would directly express their love and also discussing about their ideal types, the SuJu members gave a glimpse of their close relationship.

Donghae’s variety show MC-ing challenge will be revealed on MBC Every1’s “Super Junior’s Foresight” at 11PM on the 30th of March, Wednesday.

[110418] Queuing from 3am only for SuJu, Article on KIMCHI event in Indonesia April 19, 2011

external image sujunews.jpg

Super Junior’s (SuJu) magic is tremendous. For the sake of watching this Korean boyband, hundreds of teenagers were willing to queue up at Grand Indonesia since the dawn on Sunday (17/4).
They wished to get the Tribune 2 ticket which costs 550000 IDR. But some of them had to accept the disappointment because the cheapest tickets were sold out soon after the stands opened at 10am. As scheduled, SuJu itself will perform on the upcoming June 4th.
Desty, one of the fans from Kalibata was one of the fans who was disappointed, because she couldn’t get the ticket she wished for. “(I) have been queuing since 7am, (and) I couldn’t get a ticket. I want the Tribune 2 which is 550000 IDR. I left home at 5:30am, (but) apparently there were people who slept on the parking field since 3am. The event committee has given the queuing number. I thought that the ticket would start selling at 10am, but apparently at 10am (they) only had to pay,” she said, sighing.
Desty admitted that she liked the boyband SuJu because their voices are good. “Their dancing is also good. (They’re) also handsome. Since elementary school I liked to watch Korean film. When SuJu debuted, (I) liked them right away. Once I listened to them, (I) took note of the lyrics, listened frequently, and memorized them,” said the teen who admitted that she memorized 10 SuJu’s songs.
Tita who lived at Fatmawati area, also admitted that she was disappointed because she couldn’t get the ticket. “Actually (I) wanted to buy Tribune 2, but it has been sold out. The price of Tribune 1 ticket keeps changing, and the information on Internet is not very clear, so I’m confused,” she said.
Rina and four of her friends were lucky. “(We) put in great effort to get it. We’ve been queuing since the dawn, we now get the payment receipt, we only have to pay. If (we) can meet (them), (we) want to give them hats, ask for signatures, and also take pictures together,” she explained.
Super Junior or also known as SuJu/SJ is a Korean boyband which consists of 13 members, namely Leeteuk, Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryewook, Kibum, dan Kyuhyun.
They will be the main performer on the Korean Idols Music Concert Hosted in Indonesia (KIMCHI) event which will be held at Istora Senayan, on the upcoming June 4th 2011. The tickets are sold in various types, such as VIP (2500000 IDR), Festival 1 (2000000 IDR), Festival 2 (1500000 IDR), Tribune 1 (2000000 IDR), and Tribune 2 (550000 IDR).
According to Sean Sudwikatmono, W Production’s Managing Director, on the press conference of KIMCHI 2011, for fans from other cities, the promoter will provide online ticketing service. “The online tickets will be sold after the public sales, and hopefully they are not sold out yet”, he said.
The rapidly sold-out ticket can be a proof that K-Pop or the music from Korea have never had a lack of fans. Korean music has now become one of the well-loved genres other than Indonesian music and western music.
It is known that before this, K-Pop fans also have been waiting for Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, and Kim Junsu who are gathered together in JYJ. The tickets for the show at Sentul on April 9th have also been sold online. However the boyband’s management cancelled the concert in Indonesia in the end, with the reason that the promoter who brought them to Indonesia, Dreamcatcher Indonesia (DCI), was not very professional. Other than Indonesia, CJes Entertainment, who is JYJ’s management company also cancelled the concert in Singapore.
SuJu’s fan, Andinali Ridha Aminsha, who queued with Annisa Fitriani yesterday said (that) what she really wanted to be held in Indonesia was Super Show or Super Junior’s solo concert tour. Super Show is usually held yearly and takes place in various countries across Asia. Before this, the neighbouring countries like Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia have succeeded in bringing Super Junior (to their countries).
Super Junior debuted on November 6th 2005, and has succeeded in making history in both the Korean and Asian music industries.
Since their debut until early 2011, Super Junior has released 4 albums, namely Superjunior05 (Twins) which was released in 2005. (It was) followed by Don’t Don (2007), Sorry Sorry (2009), and Bonamana (2010).

110604 Pro-gamer Talks about his Friendship with Kyuhyun

Since we are talking about hobbies, this came into my mind. You’ve caught people’s interest before with your close relation with Super Junior’s Kyuhyun. Please tell us how you came to know him and how close you are with him.
I came to know him thanks to Seo Kyungjong commentator. I first knew him three years ago. Seo Kyungjong was drinking with Kyuhyun and he called me to come out. I didn’t believe it at first. He told me Super Junior’s Kyuhyun was beside him. I told him not to lie to me and then asked him to let me to talk to Kyuhyun. The voice sounded same as Kyuhyun’s. So I went there thinking I’m getting fooled and he was really there (laughs). When I talked to him, it seemed as if he knew Star Craft really well and liked the game. He told me before March 3, 2007, he didn’t like me because he liked my opponent (laughs). He told me when he actually saw me in person, he came to like me afterward.
Seo Kyungjong player set you up. Then do you often call each other?
I didn’t do anything for him, but Kyuhyun hyung gave me concert tickets. Also, when I told him I like SNSD’s Jessica, he took me to see the musical “Legally Blonde.” He made it possible for me to shake hands with Jessica. So it was really good (laughs). He treats me so well that I’m thankful to him. I can’t do a lot for him, so I want to tell him come to the final game. But since I can’t go to the final game… (laughs).
He was actually going to come to the Winner’s league final game. But he was in an accident the day before. I was so surprised, so I called him. He said he got hurt, so he had to rest. But he called me before the final game to tell me to do well and to definitely win. Thanks to him, I think I was able to pull my spirit up and was able to win.

Super Junior, Big Bang, TVXQ, 2PM, MBLAQ, and ZE:A have become one for fans overseas.

Comprised of the strongest idol groups, “2011 The K Showw” will be held at Incheon Songdo Convensia on July 9th. This combination of performers already receive much attention from Korean fans and anticipations are flaring since a collaboration such as this has never happened in Japan, let alone even once overseas.

Furthermore, being that the target audience is overseas fans from around the world, this concert all the more anticipated since the stages shown will be the most representative stages of the K-POP boom.

It need scarcely be said that out of K-POP, TVXQ, Super Junior, and BIG BANG are groups who are already spreading outside of Asia to markets throughout the world. More recently, 2PM has topped Thailand’s Channel V Asian chart even outside of Japan, and as for Korean newcomer idols, MBLAQ and ZE:A are actively promoting. It can only be imagined how a concert that calls overseas fans over for Korea’s representative idols will turn out, as it seems the cheers of overseas fans can already be heard.

[t/n: To clarify for those who aren't familiar with the K Showw, it's a special event for foreign fans. The tickets are not sold in Korea, instead the tickets are mostly sold to other countries such as China and Japan. Info]
